Ask me about the Lions ...

From the Lions Clubs International website:

"When caring people join together, roll up their sleeves and take action to make their community better, it’s a beautiful thing—and an incredible feeling for everyone involved. That’s Lions. Being a Lion is about leading by example, building relationships, and improving the world through kindness. It is 1.4 million caring men and women serving together so they can make a lasting impact and change more lives."

And the Haddonfield Area Lions Club, founded in 1944, is a perfect example, serving those with vision-related issues, as well as the local community and beyond, in a number of ways.

Despite the pandemic restrictions, the Haddonfield Area Lions Club still accomplished many things in the past 18 months, which - according to the Club's marketing and publicity co-chair, Debra Nussbaum - included:

· Contributed $2000 worth of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) to Cooper

Hospital in Camden · Gave Youth of the Year Awards to three Haddonfield students

· Held a Peace Poster Contest and a Peace Essay Contest and chose four winners

from the community

· Presented the 2021 Citizen of the Year Award on Zoom, with more than 100

people attending · Supported members of the Haddonfield Memorial High School Leo Club, who

made and distributed 180 paper flowers and personalized letters to

residents in two senior housing facilities · Lions Club and Leo Club members donated to efforts by St. Wilfrid’s Church in

Camden to provide groceries and winter outerwear to people in need · Added a new eyeglass collection box to a site in Downtown Haddonfield · Hosted a holiday fundraising drive by mail (in lieu of the annual Blind Seal

Drive) to support community and health organizations · Delivered donated glasses to the New Jersey Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center

· Provided five pairs of eyeglasses for guests at Joseph’s House in Camden

And coming up soon... the Flea Market on September 11 and the 5K Walk/Run on October 2.
